I presented my research on May 1st at Breck. I thought that the presentation and workshop went very well, and I am very happy with The iPad Project as a whole.
I would like to thank everyone that attended and helped make this project a success. I also plan on presenting my findings in the near future to members of ISD 287 and Camp Hand in Hand.

I've finished all of my tracking for February. I received a consistent amount of responses for each week.
I'm in the process of analyzing results and writing my research paper.
I'd like to say thank you very much to the 10 classrooms that filled out my tracking surveys. They were vital in receiving my results.

I have received good tracking data for the first two weeks of February. I have sent out the week 3 tracking grid this morning.
Also, I have analyzed a good portion of my preliminary survey, and I have been very surprised with some of the results. Certain communication apps seem to fare better than others, and teachers have some very definite opinions of the iPad.

Currently, I am in the process of my iPad weekly tracking. I have obtained 10 responses from teachers for Week 1, but I am also getting responses sporadically throughout the week. I will continue to use email to send my tracking grid out electronically, and I will continue this for the month of February.
I have also begun to analyze my survey results.

TiP Update - 2/6

posted Feb 6, 2013, 6:51 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Feb 6, 2013, 7:01 AM by Brad Kohl ]

The iPad Project has been doing well in the second semester. I have shifted my focus away from the app Proloquo2Go with individual children, in order to focus on a wide range of communication apps. I am currently working with ISD 287 to determine the effectiveness of iPad apps involving communication for their SUN Program.
First, I implemented a survey to teachers about iPad use generally. Here are some examples of questions:  "What are the primary uses of the iPad for your students?" and "Which of the following appear as severe flaws or shortcomings of the iPad?" I received 47 responses from various teachers and para-professionals
The second part of my research involved tracking the use of various applications during the month of February. I have developed and sent out my spreadsheet for the first week of February. This will continue for another four weeks. I hope to gain good insights on the effectiveness and usefulness of these communication applications.
