Math research was well-represented at Minnesota's first WE Day (www.weday.com/) on October 8, 2013.

Speakers and performers included Martin Luther King III, Queen Noor of Jordan, Mia Farrow, Barbara Pierce Bush, Carly Rae Jepsen, Demi Lovato, and the Jonas Brothers in their final performance before the break-up.  Local celebrities included Governor Mark Dayton, #13 Jack Jablonski, and Breck alumna Hutton Phillips who was instrumental in bringing WE Day to the US.

Not satisfied to just be in the audience, though you can see Mr Kohl in his pink suit front and center in the picture, math research students were there for another special reason.  Researcher Eileen Bayer's project focused on the General Mills Yoplait division's efforts at promoting breast cancer awareness in their sponsorship of WE Day.  Several of the math research students helped her organize moms that were special guests of Yoplait at WE Day as well as help her collect data on the event.  Even Mr Kohl got into the spirit with his pink suit for breast cancer and his math research T-shirt.
